Color Theory

The term, color theory, can include many different definitions and ideas about how color is used in artwork. Color theory is about how to logically structure color in an artwork. Thinking about color theory before beginning a piece of artwork can result in positive results.

Polychromatic is a color scheme that includes a wide range of colors. Unlike analogous, which includes only colors next to each other on the color wheel, or monochromatic, that includes only one color with it's values, the polychromatic color scheme can include colors from around the entire color wheel.  In the image above, one can see that there are warm and cool colors in the image.  This is a good clue to it being a polychromatic color scheme.
